The Newaza workshop is series of classes offered at the LA Rope Dojo that focuses on introducing students to Yukimura Haruki’s style of rope, often referred to as “newaza”.  It is taught over the course of one month and meets every Wednesday during June for 2 hours, from 7-9.  The cost of the workshop is $150 per couple, for all four lessons and must be paid at the beginning.  Students are expected to attend all four classes, as the teaching is progressive.

We cover safety and the basic tenets of Yukimura ryu, beginning with his unique gote and progressing through a series of five ties that comprise the first progression in Yukimura’s style.

Class is limited to 5 couples and meeting dates are May 6th, May 13th, May 20th, and May 27th from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

ABOUT LA ROPE DOJO WORKSHOPS

Our classes are designed to be small, intensive, and intimate experiences for the participants and to develop a cohort feel.  Accordingly we expect participants to attend all sessions and come prepared for each class.

Students should wear comfortable clothing and we recommend bottoms wear comfortable, but not baggy, clothing.

For the beginner class (Kinbaku 101), rope will be provided.  For other classes, we expect participants to have their own rope.  Should you require rope, LA Rope Dojo sells top quality Japanese rope (imported from Tokyo) at a discount to students.

Because of the limited size of classes, registration is non-refundable.
